Increase your home’s energy efficiency, and soon your property value, with a Residential Efficiency Scorecard

You might not have heard of the Residential Efficiency Scorecard before, but rest assured that’s going to change in the next couple of years.

Already a feature in Victoria, the Residential Efficiency Scorecard is on the verge of being rolled out all over Australia, while a similar scheme is already mandated in the ACT.

So, what is a Residential Efficiency Scorecard?

It’s a standardised approach to analysing your home’s energy efficiency, that results in a star rating just like your fridge, or TV. One of our Accredited Scorecard Assessors will visit your home, assess your energy efficiency and deliver a report that outlines all the areas you can improve upon.

More details on the Residential Efficiency Scorecard right here in this video from Victorian State Government. Before long, you’ll have to get an energy efficiency rating for your home in order to sell it.

What are the benefits of a Residential Efficiency Scorecard?

As you implement all of the suggestions, your home will become more energy efficient and you’ll also experience the following.

Easily compare one house with another

Because the approach to measurement is standardised, you’ll be able to compare
one house to another, knowing they’re gauged on the same underlying data points.

Make wiser purchasing decisions

In the not too distant future, the aim is for every home to have a Residential Efficiency Scorecard star rating before its sold, so you’ll be able to factor ‘running costs’ into your purchase decision.

Improve the value of your home before selling it

When energy efficiency becomes a factor in the sale of your home, increasing your star rating is going to lift the value of your property, and this has already been demonstrated in ACT where the market is more mature in this regard.

  • "Adam walked into our Federation house and immediately saw myriad ways in which we could improve its energy efficiency. He mapped out a program of ‘tasks’ some of which we have been able to undertake ourselves, and others that we have progressively contracted to experts to implement. Apart from his wealth of knowledge in the field, Adam is genuinely keen to help householders find ways of reducing energy waste and maximising energy efficiency, and generous with his time. He is very personable and easy to deal with. Highly recommended."
